February on the Ground
The month of February saw a flurry of events aimed at the protection for life. Muffins for Life, a Diocese of Venice gathering, offered attendees the opportunity to hear directly from pro-life leaders Pam Stenzel (Safe Haven Baby Boxes) and Rich Owens (40 Days for Life) about the advocacy and work that is unfolding on a local and national level.
From there, the momentum led the pro-life community of Southwest Florida to the kick off events for 40 Days for Life in Ft. Myers and Naples where individuals such as Elise Rose, Ryan Kennedy (Florida Citizens Alliance), Dr. Haywood Robinson (40 Days for Life) and Scott Baier (Community Pregnancy Clinic) delivered powerful remarks regarding the current cultural and political landscape surrounding abortion.
The beginning of this campaign coincides with the season of Lent, a time of focused prayer, sacrifice and witness. As this campaign takes place here and across our nation, we are reminded of the power of presence and prayer as 40 Days for Life reported the first saved child in Hempstead, New York shortly after the beginning of the campaign.
This past month has been marked by a steady presence that reflects the consistent fight for the protection of life and set the tone for the rest of the year.
